About Dr. Harshwardhan Ghorpade
Dr. Harshwardhan Ghorpade is a highly experienced Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Surgery Specialist in Navi Mumbai, currently practicing at Fortis Hospital, Vashi and serving as Chief Consultant and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at Fortis Hiranandani Hospital.
He completed his MBBS from Mumbai, MS (Ophthalmology) from Pune, and DNB (Diplomate of National Board) from New Delhi. He further pursued a Fellowship in Phacoemulsification Cataract Surgery, during which he performed a large number of complex cataract procedures. He also received advanced cataract surgery training under Dr. T. P. Lahane, a world record–holding cataract surgeon.
Dr. Ghorpade has performed over 10,000 phacoemulsification cataract surgeries along with numerous other ophthalmic procedures, including surgeries for ocular trauma. He has received advanced training in Cornea and Ocular Surface Diseases from the UK, working under Prof. H. S. Dua, a world-renowned cornea specialist and former President of the Royal College of Ophthalmology.
He has also completed advanced training in Laser Refractive Surgery, including LASIK and Femto LASIK, under Dr. Rupal Shah, a pioneer of laser refractive surgery in India.
Dr. Ghorpade served as an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Terna Medical College for 10 years and has worked at several corporate, charitable, municipal, and government hospitals. His international experience includes fellowships in Cornea and External Eye Diseases in Nottingham, UK, and Ghent, Belgium. He has also worked as a Lecturer at Grant Medical College, SHO at Queen’s Medical Centre, UK, and Accident & Emergency Medical Officer at JJ Hospital, Mumbai. He has actively participated in community eye care by conducting multiple eye camps.
